Dear Mym - Year Seven and Epilogue

Hullo, everyone.

It's Sunday night, I have a stinking cold thanks to the rotten weather at the moment, and it's time for the final chapters of Dear Mym. There is an epilogue, but it's so short I didn't think it was worth saving until next week - and I'm off to Spain anyway, so at least I don't have to worry about posting that before I go.

Charlie has left Hogwarts and is working with the Order of the Phoenix, but with war on the way, anything could happen.

As I said I'm off to Spain shortly, but before I go I need to crack on with NaNoWriMo. Shamefully, I've been so busy this month that my current tally stands at about 4,000 words, but I've set this week aside to do as much as possible, and if nothing else get the annual Christmas story finished.

I'm also very excited because my BFF bought me the Harry Potter Funko advent calendar, to clutter up my already overstuffed home with 24 miniature HP figures. I have also bought a chocolate calendar (of course) and a wine one, too, as I think a glass of wine each evening is a nice way to treat myself in the lead up to Christmas.

Time to get going as I need to crack that word count, and find time to put up my Christmas tree!

Dear Mym - Year Three

Hi all,

It's another week and another chapter of Dear Mym. 

Year 3 has started and Charlie's ex-boyfriend has escaped from Azkaban and may well be hunting Harry. But at least the new DADA teacher isn't going to give her a problem this year. And how are things going with our favourite Potions Master?

New Story - Dear Mym

Hi everyone,

As promised the last time I posted, I'm finally starting a new story. It is a reimagining of the whole seven-book saga through the eyes of someone outside of the action and will be posted on AO3 and FanFiction.Net. It is generally suitable for anyone 13 and above although there is a bit of swearing if that sort of thing bothers you.

On 1 September 1991, Charlotte (Charlie) Fawley is about to take up her first position since leaving teacher training college, as the Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Follow her as she gets to grips with school life through a series of letters to her best friend, Mymosa (Mym) Tallisker, the ex-Holyhead Harpies goalkeeper.

Family - Part One - Chapter One

Evening all,

It's relatively early for me, which is good as I'm not feeling great and really need to go to bed shortly.

As promised before my holiday, this week sees the start of a major new story called Family. It includes a chapter I once posted on both FF.Net and Lumos under the title ‘The Children’ (now removed). It was a snippet of a much larger idea for a story I hadn’t yet written and wasn’t sure if I ever would. I have changed the chapter considerably, but it now forms part of this story; this is just a warning in case you read the original and get a sense of deja vu.

It starts in the school holidays between Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows and follows Hermione as she adjusts to life with a new family after Death Eaters kill her parents. But who is the mysterious person who saved her life and promised to look after her?

‘Don’t worry, my sweet, I’ll look after you.’ These words should have been a comfort to Hermione, grieving after the murder of her parents by Death Eaters. Instead, they signalled the start of a terror far worse. 

WARNING: This story involves non-consensual behaviour and the consequences of such acts including self-harm, suicidal behaviour and alcoholism. Please do not read if this is likely to be a trigger or if you find such descriptions disturbing. Dx

I have taken a chance and posted this on FF.Net because although it deals with disturbing subject matter it isn't particularly graphic; most of the really nasty scenes are left to the imagination. I, therefore, believe that this sits under the site's 'M' rating, which I think means you can read it if you're over sixteen.

I very much hope you enjoy the story and would love to receive reviews, kudos and comments.

Guilty Secret - Epilogue

So here we are for the final hoorah in Guilty Secret and we're back to the present day.

My sincere apologies to those I upset with yesterday's chapter but it had to happen. I've had the story completed for a long time, but had always been in two minds whether to post it because of the content, as I was aware that it wasn't going to be a popular outcome. I'm fairly certain that I made reference to it in my Author's notes for a story I posted quite some time ago, but I can't remember which one now - it isn't really important as it doesn't link to the story in question, just illustrates how long I've been prevaricating over posting it.

I really hope that despite the somewhat unhappy conclusion that you enjoyed the story. Just remember that real life doesn't always end well so neither will all stories.

Guilty Secret - Prologue

Hi all,

So I'm back a bit quicker than I expected with a short story that I'm posting every day over the space of a week - something of a change to the format of once a week that I'm normally used to.

Be prepared, because it does feature the death of a major character.

It's called Guilty Secret and is slightly different from my usual stories too.

Healer, Melissa Carpenter, has just transferred from St Mungo's to Cadenza, an expensive private hospital which caters to the wealthy of the wizarding world. But just what is the secret of the long-term patient hidden away at the back of the hospital?

Love Bond - Chapter One

Hi everyone,

Tonight I'm posting the first chapter of my final festive offering, for a short three chapter story on Fanfiction.net called 'Love Bond', the link for which you can find here.

Set during Order of the Phoenix it's the story of Sophie, a seventh year who discovers the day before her eighteenth birthday that she has been given to Professor Snape in payment for a debt. Understandably she isn't very happy about this, not helped at all when the Potions Master refuses to release her from the bond that was agreed. Instead he gives her two choices; but which one will she go for? 

The second chapter will be posted tomorrow, with the final chapter posted on New Years Eve, which ends the year nicely. 

I've lots more planned for next year, but more about that later.

This chapter nearly didn't get posted tonight as the news broke that Jo had secretly published a new crime book back in April, under the name Robert Gilbraith (called The Cuckoo's Calling just in case you didn't get caught up in the hype). Obviously I rushed out to get it, like most of the rest of the HP fandom and was tempted to sink straight into reading it. But then I remembered it was time to post this chapter and so I've done that instead as I didn't want to leave you lovely readers hanging, especially after the extended break for my holiday.

So after a break I'm finally back and posting. As I have explained in a note at the start of this chapter I was extremely busy with work in the week leading up to my holiday. I then jetted off to Spain for almost a fortnight and was not able to post - although to be honest I was having too much fun doing holiday things to even consider it. But now I'm home and raring to go (although if I'm honest I don't want to go back to work) and a regular posting schedule will resume forthwith.

And so we catch up with poor Julia who is having a hard time of it at the moment . . . .
